ENVI SARscape Analytics


 

ENVI SARscape Analytics is the “grab and go” version of ENVI SARscape. It provides easy-to-use workflows for some of the most common SAR processing applications and presents them in a simple way to users. These streamlined tools can be accessed in the ENVI toolbox and ENVI Modeler as well as ArcGIS Pro, and do not require you to be an expert in SAR to run them.

The Flood Mapping analytic uses images from before and after a flood and classifies areas of standing water.


DEM EXTRACTION

DEM EXTRACTION


Two SAR scenes can be used to create a Digital Elevation Map (DEM) by comparing and using the differences in the radar signal and viewing angle between the two images.

SENTINEL DOWNLOAD


Automatic download of Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 data. This workflow lets you choose an area of interest, dates, and other filters, and downloads multiple Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 scenes to use instead of having to manually download them one at a time from a web service.

The Time Series analytic uses multiple SAR images to create informative layers facilitating land use analysis and change detection.

CHANGE DETECTION

CHANGE DETECTION


Change Detection uses the coherence and intensity between two scenes to track subtle changes in their structure and outputs a classification result. A secondary tool kit allows for classification refinement.


DISPLACEMENT MAP

DISPLACEMENT MAP


The Displacement Map workflow uses a pair of SAR images to show the land motion over time from the first to the second image. This analysis, known as DinSAR, is commonly used after events such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.


SHIP DETECTION

SHIP DETECTION


Automatic Ship Detection uses a single scene to find ships on water. This can be paired with AIS data for ship monitoring.


PERSISTENT SCATTERERS

PERSISTENT SCATTERERS


Persistent Scatterers uses time-series interferometry to track changes at millimeter scale and find areas where ground surface deformation has occurred.


IMAGE GEOCODING

IMAGE GEOCODING


Image Geocoding processes raw or satellite-view images into intensity images and geocodes them to map coordinates.



SAR across the ArcGIS® Platform

L3Harris Geospatial and Esri have worked together for many years to provide solutions that enable GIS users to seamlessly access and analyze geospatial imagery and data to solve critical problems with confidence. Access to the easy-to-use ENVI SARscape Analytics across the Esri platform is another example of this ongoing partnership.

ENVI SARscape is designed for those who are knowledgeable about SAR data and processing and enables users to modify parameters to create the exact products they need.

Data support and processing

ENVI SARscape works with all commercially available SAR data as well as many non-commercial SAR data sets including Sensor Independent Complex Data (SICD). ENVI SARscape works with any size data and has automated tools to quickly and easily prepare SAR data for viewing and further analysis.

A lot of time and effort can be spent making SAR data ready for analysis. However, built-in tools and workflows in ENVI SARscape make it easy to ingest data and prepare it for analysis. This means more time can be spent on the data itself and solving problems.

Powerful tools such as the De Grandi Spatio-Temporal filter are great for reducing noise and speckle, and automatic co-registration makes processing workflows fast and easy. Plus, ENVI SARscape’s support of cloud and enterprise environments means users can take advantage of modern hardware and efficiently and accurately analyze data at scale.

Maximize the benefits of amplitude and phase

SAR data provides not only amplitude or the intensity of the backscatter response but also phase, which allows for measurement of height and displacement – a unique benefit to SAR. ENVI SARscape has tools to extract information from both the amplitude and phase, which enables users to fully utilize all aspects of SAR data to increase knowledge about areas of interest.

With ENVI SARscape, you can use the amplitude information of SAR data captured at different times over the same area to understand surface changes. Since SAR data is minimally influenced by the atmosphere, analyzing change is immediate and very efficient. Amplitude can be used to pick up physical information on the surface and is commonly used for agriculture, forestry and feature monitoring.

ENVI SARscape integrates point and area-based analysis techniques to measure displacement and deformation over time. Using the phase provides the ability to see miniscule surface changes that are impossible to see otherwise. This approach makes it possible to analyze deformation that affects both extended and localized structures related to natural or man-induced phenomena. Applications include analyzing volcanic or seismic activity, landslides, subsidence and building failures.

With ENVI SARscape, you can accurately process every type of SAR data in every way. This includes amplitude, single and multi-polarization, phase, a single SAR image or a stack of images. This allows you to easily view, observe, monitor and automatically extract information about an area as needed.

LANDSLIDES

Map and measure surface movement caused by human activity or from natural causes.

Distinguish moving from non-moving glaciers and map and monitor their movement.
