Introduction to ENVI SARscape Analytics

The use of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data has grown increasingly popular due its unique benefits, such as the ability to capture data at night and to see through cloud cover. The complexity of SAR data makes it challenging to work with, however. To ease the challenge, L3Harris Geospatial collaborated with sarmap SA to create ENVI SARscape Analytics: easy-to-use tools for some of the most common SAR processing applications. No expertise required!

In this ten part series, learn how to use the most requested analytics to support your Earth Observation applications with meaningful SAR products. We recommend that everyone begins with part one to become familiar with the toolbox. This training is available to anyone. You don’t have to be an ENVI SARscape user to benefit. Introduction to ENVI Analytics

In this four part course, we cover two chapters of our Introduction to ENVI Analytics training course. The content covers the basics of ENVI including: opening and displaying imagery and vector data, general overview of buttons and tools, setting preferences, and data display concepts. The content is geared for creating a high level understanding of ENVI's display concepts with data and, while aimed at beginners, can also teach advanced users some important tips.

Extracting Information from LiDAR Data

ENVI provides a complete set of image processing and analysis tools and is designed to help users get the most out of their data. The Feature Extraction (FX) module allows users to extract features from point cloud data, as well as multispectral and hyperspectral imagery.

This workshop focuses on using the ENVI FX module to display and extract information from 3-D point clouds. ENVI FX supports most common LiDAR formats such as LAS, Binary, ASCII, and NITF LiDAR. Using the FX module, you can generate elevation products such as Digital Surface Models (DSMs), Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), and digital elevation contours. ENVI FX automatically extracts 3D features from LiDAR point clouds such as buildings, trees, power lines, and power poles. In addition, the software can be customized to extract any features from LiDAR point clouds. Products derived from LiDAR data processing are ready for import directly into a GIS.
